Mindful Breath Sangha was founded in November, 2011, by members of the Athens/Clarke/Oconee Communities who wanted to further their studies and practice in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh, Zen master, poet, and peace activist. This is a practice of engaged Buddhism and mindfulness* in everyday life that works to show us the connection between deep personal peace and peace on earth.
The Sangha meets every Sunday at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Athens (UUFA) 780 Timonty Road Athens Georgia 30606, from 5:00 P.M. – 6:30 P.M. for sitting meditation, walking meditation, and a dharma lesson. Each week the leadership of the Sangha rotates among members.
Once a month we gather at the home of one of our members for a vegetarian pot luck dinner. On these occasions, we meet at 4:00 P.M.
Mindful Breath Sangha welcomes all who wish to attend. Whatever your religion, philosophy, or spiritual path, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, or country of origin, your presence is welcomed.
*Mindfulness is the energy of being aware and awake to the present moment.
